At the 20th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, Disney wins 2 Oscars for the film Song of the South. Allie Wrubel & Ray Gilbert win for their song “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah,” and actor James Baskett wins a Special Award for his heartwarming portrayal of Uncle Remus.
