Fantasyland Expansion: Pooh’s Playful Spot and Ariel’s Grotto Closing
by MM
Fantasyland Expansion News

On April 11 2010 Pooh’s Playful Spot and Ariel’s Grotto will be closing as part of the massive Fantasyland Expansion. Walls will begin to appear all the way from ‘Ariel’s Grotto’ to ‘Mickey’s Toontown Fair’. The tree from the playground will be relocated into the queue of ‘The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh’. It’s sad to see these attractions leave but exciting to look into the future with the Fantasyland Expansion. We posted some pictures below. If you have any pictures you would like to ad feel free to upload them to the Fan Photo Section on D23Magics Facebook page.

Walt Disney World has broken ground on a three-year project to expand Fantasyland. Among the new features will be a separate village for each of the Disney princesses. The Dumbo ride will also double in size, and park guests will be treated to a three-ring circus and carnival games while they wait in line.
The new Fantasyland will be opened in phases, with the majority of the new land opening in 2012. The Pixie Hollow area will open in 2013.
Mickey’s Toontown Fair will be removed to make way for what will be the Pixie Hollow area of Fantasyland. It is expected that the Barnstormer (to be rethemed as part of Dumbo’s Circus) will remain. The Mickey and Minnie meet and greet is rumored to be relocated to the Expo Hall on Main Street USA.
