The show will include the use of 1200 fountains that can shoot water up to 200 ft in the air. Each fountain is equipped with an LED light ring. Other water features include a 380-foot-long mist screen on which images will be projected. Fire nozzles will be capable of shooting flames up to 50 ft in the air. Fog and lasers will be used. Projection domes will emerge from the water and will feature different lights and videos projected onto them. A large frame is installed in the lagoon.

Searchlights and other light towers will rise from boxes bordering Paradise Bay. Special animation sequences were created using paper animation by paper artist Megan Brain, who created many characters for the show. The music was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, England with over one hundred musicians. Australian Choreographer Joshua Horner created a unique interpretation of the music for the Disney Creative Entertainment team thus serving as another source of inspiration for the movement of the water fountain sequences.

A viewing area, now known as Paradise Park, was built specially for World of Color. Situated along the northern shore of Paradise Bay, the viewing area can hold up to 6,000 spectators at full capacity. It is multi-tiered, similar to the viewing area for Fantasmic at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. It features trellises, flowers, and an interactive play fountain during the day.

Disney revealed today that it is testing a new and improved Mickey Mouse: One that actually talks with guests.

Disney says it is currently “playtesting” the technology – which gives Mickey a moving mouth and the ability to interact in real-time with children – in California, but the video already has fans buzzing about whether Disney will eventually expand the concept to other parks and other costumed characters. It’s possible that the concept is part of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ broad “next generation experience” technology initiative, a hush-hush project that former Disney execs say has a budget of close to $1.5 billion.

The expansion of Disney’s California Adventure was designed as a series of projects opening over a five-year period from when it was first announced in fall 2007. In summer 2008 Toy Story Mania! opened to guests, a 4D interactive attraction. In 2009, the newly themed Games of the Boardwalk and Mickey’s Fun Wheel opened, both located in the Paradise Pier area of the Park.

This summer a new nighttime spectacular called World of Color, an exciting new show that will bring Disney and Pixar storytelling to life in an amazing new way using water, music, animation, color, and lights, and the Silly Symphony Swings will open, a brand-new Disney take on the classic swings attraction, which is now going to be themed to the Mickey Mouse cartoon “The Band Concert” (1935).

In 2011, The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure and Goofy’s Sky School will both open.

In 2012, a new main entranceway and front area called Buena Vista Street, designed to resemble Los Angeles as Walt Disney would have experienced it in the 1920s and 1930s. This new experience will include the Red Car Trolleys and a replica of the historic Carthay Circle Theater.

For all the fans of the popular Disney – Pixar film “Cars” a 12-acre expansion of the Park called Cars Land. This land will include the town of Radiator Springs for the first time in a theme park experience.

A new 3-D version of the tremendously-popular “Star Tours” attraction will debut at the Disneyland Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2011. The attraction will include immersive new elements that will take guests to many familiar places in the Star Wars galaxy. In line at Space Mountain if you look at the Matterhorn at an angle. You will see something that looks like a classic Mickey. You can only really get the Mickey shape by standing far to the left (the side where Finding Nemo is) of the Mountain and as high as you can go (i.e. in line for Space Mountain).

The best viewing point is from the entrance to the innovations Dream Home.

Have a Magical Day

The park says it will show the 1986 musical – starring the late King of Pop and directed by Francis Ford Coppola – starting on Tuesday and running indefinitely.

Michael Jackson’s 3-D film is being shown at Disneyland again On the Disney Parks blog, Disney executive Heather Hust Rivera says the park will show a 70mm print of the 17-minute movie in the Tomorrowland theatre, with enhanced sound.

However, Rivera said the showing would not feature some special effects from the original presentation.

The original presentation included lasers and smoke. Jackson, who died last year, plays the role of a spaceship captain who uses love and music to fight a wicked witch queen played by Anjelica Huston.

The original ran at Disneyland from 1986 to 1997.

The new showing replaces the 3-D show Honey, I Shrunk The Audience.
